CanPrev Zinc

Zinc support from CanPrev

Zinc plays a critical role in wound healing, healthy growth and building a strong immune system. You can trust CanPrev’s zinc formulas to deliver elemental zinc in the preferred bis-glycinate form-known for its gentle and effective absorption. We’ve formulated several options so you can choose the potency that meets your needs.

Zinc Bis-Glycinate 25

A suitable dose for everyday health

This mighty trace mineral plays a crucial role in the body’s immune and detoxification processes. Zinc is involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. A daily dose is great for individuals looking to support everything from healthy immune function to respiratory and skin health.

Bis-glycinate is the best-glycinate

We pair the important mineral zinc with bis-glycinate. Why? Because it’s the best assurance we can give that the zinc you take is the zinc your body actually absorbs.

But, not all minerals are easily absorbed

In fact most are not. When it comes to zinc absorption, the form dictates success. There are two main classifications that differentiate how zinc can be absorbed: salts and amino acid chelates.

Interestingly, these two types of compounds behave differently in our digestive tract and are absorbed through different pathways. Amino acid chelates are ideal for better mineral absorption including zinc because when they leave the stomach and head towards the small intestine they use a preferred pathway called a peptide channel. These peptide channels are the same pathways we use to absorb proteins that we ingest through our diet. And, we have twice the surface area in our intestinal tract dedicated to peptide channel absorption than ionic mineral receptor absorption, which compounds like salts use.

CanPrev's zinc bis-glycinate formulas are clean, gentle and superior in absorption for this reason.

Zinc 50 Ultra Immune + Vitamin C

Boosting immunity while boosting your health

Zinc 50 Ultra Immune + Vitamin C gives you all the health benefits of zinc while boosting your immune system. Best used at the first sign of cold and flu symptoms, or in preparation for allergy season.

Choosing the right delivery format

Capsules:

  • Easier to swallow and tend to break down more quickly than tablets
  • Capsules can be opened and mixed with water. If you have a sore throat gargle with the solution and swallow

Tablets:

  • Cut in half to modify the dose or if you have trouble swallowing pills

Having multiple delivery formats for zinc is important. For acute cold and flu purposes, we ideally want the therapeutic action and beneficial properties to be delivered in the oropharynx and laryngopharynx (essentially the throat). This is where bacteria can attach and create sore throats and unwanted symptoms.

When zinc is swallowed whole it doesn't always reach our delicate lung tissue (as swallowing can block the passageway from the oropharynx to the trachea). In this situation capsules can easily be opened and dissolved in water.

Pure zinc bis-glycinate capsules broken open and mixed with water creates a solution ideal for contact with the oropharynx. Ideal for sore throats or acute cold and flu symptoms.

Zinc 20 Immune + Vitamin C

Keep your body topped up with adequate zinc

Zinc 20 Immune + Vitamin C is suitable for ages 9 years and up! A formula equipped with all the health benefits zinc provides plus it's paired with immune supporting vitamin C. Zinc acts as a cofactor for important enzymes involved in our antioxidant defence system - it helps protect cells against oxidative damage. Best used at the first sign of cold or flu symptoms, in preparation for allergy season or for a daily top up during times of stress.

A perfect marriage

Why do we commonly see zinc paired with vitamin C?

Studies indicate that a combination of vitamin C plus zinc for the common cold has proven effective with a good safety profile, against common cold symptoms. Research also shows that both nutrients play important roles in immune function and reducing the risk, severity, and duration of infectious diseases.

Vitamin C (also known as ascorbic acid) is commonly thought to enhance zinc absorption. Ascorbic acid has a natural acidic pH and our stomach requires an acidic environment in order to properly process minerals for good absorption. Our stomach acid works on a positive feedback loop, where the presence of acid, stimulates the cells in our stomach to produce more stomach acid.

Because our body does not produce or store either vitamin C or zinc, daily intake of both is essential. These nutrients are also key players in building a healthy immune system and providing good antioxidant support for your cells.
